The Consul General of the People's Republic of China Visits CMAA - January 22, 2010

On Friday, January 22, 2010, the Chinese Mutual Aid Association was honored to welcome the Chinese Counsel General Ping Huang. The Counsel General made his annual visit to CMAA to congratulate the staff for another prosperous year.

The afternoon was opened with a few short speeches, including a short speech from the Chinese Mutual Aid Association’s Executive Director, Steve Brunton, welcoming the Counsel General to CMAA. The Counsel General was given a brief walkthrough of the work done within the many programs CMAA have been able to keep successful, despite the small lack of funding in some areas.

When the time came, Counsel General Huang had much to say. The Counsel General stated he was both excited and honored to be welcomed into a wonderful place that knew success well. He was very pleased to see that, throughout the year, CMAA was consistent with providing services to the community such as: language courses, computer classes, literacy and employment programs, citizenship programs, youth programs, and many others. Counsel General was also pleased to present everyone at CMAA with a charm to bring many luck, lots of money, and much success throughout the years to come.

As a gift from CMAA to the Counsel General, CMAA’s Golden Age Club ended the evening with wondrous songs that expressed their joy and excitement for the New Year.
