Winter Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) applications beginning September 1, 2010

Chinese Mutual Aid Association will Process Winter Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) applications beginning September 1, 2010.

Eligibilities:

  1. Starting intake in September 1, 2010 for households with elderly (age 60 or over) and/or disabled (households’ member receiving social security disability benefits must bring your documents to prove).
  2. Starting intake in October for households that have gas and/or electric services being disconnected (must bring the receipt of GOOD FAITH EFFORT payment and/or utility bills with a portion of payment to prove) and family with child at age 5 or under (must bring document to prove child’s age).
  3. Starting intake in November for all other low income families that meet the below income guidelines.
  4. Cash payment - if your utilities are rent included, bring your current lease to prove or have your landlord to fill out the rent verification form. Your rent amount must be 30% greater than your household income.

Please bring the following ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS which are applicable to you:
 

  1. Current heat and/or electric bills (with the household member’s name on the bills).
  2. Proof of income for ALL household members for the last 30 days (included wages, unemployment benefits, pension, IRA, SSA, SSI, AABD, TANF, GA, and ALL other income sources).
  3. Proof of social security numbers of ALL household members. Bring Medicare and/or Mediaid cards if you have.
  4. Current Rent Receipt or Lease, Photo ID card or Drivers License. (All household members need documents to prove their ages)

Income guidelines according to # of people in household and gross income for the last 30 days.
