Golden Age Club at the Museum of Science and Industry

CMAA Golden Age Club Seniors

Chinese Mutual Aid's Golden Age Club visted Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry last Thursday on June 4th, 2009. The CMAA group joined a group of seniors from Peterson and Lincoln, adding to a total of 157 individuals. The diversity of the group was obvious as Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, and Russian seniors explored and enjoyed the museum exhibits.

Most notable were the agricultural and space exhibitions, which featured tractors, hydroponics, and the Apollo 8 spacecraft. The baby chick hatchery, apart from allowing visitors to observe adorable chicks making their way out of their eggs also focused on genetics and the role genes play in the growth and development of all organisms. Finally, the transportation gallery, containing planes, locomotives, and the fastest car in the world considered the intricacies of human transport over time.

The trip was a success, however, the exibits were so captivating that approximately one third of the seniors did not have enough time to see the submarines. Fortunately, the U-505 submarine is not budging anytime soon. Afterwards, the Golden Age Club dined at the Beijing Buffet on Kedzie for lunch.
