It was an exciting time for CMAA’s 38th Annual Dinner as our theme was “Celebrating 20 Years of Young Women Warriors,” in honor of our longstanding girls' mentorship program. For the past 2 decades, the Young Women Warriors (YWW) program has worked to support underserved girls of color aged 12-18 by fostering a strong, long-lasting support network of mentors and mentees.

The special event also honored our 2019 Mutual Awardees:

More about Young Women Warriors!

Young Women Warriors is a free, year-round mentorship program that connects young women of color to older, female professionals of color who can guide young women through their high school and early college careers. Pairing the mentees to mentors who are successful leaders and role models in the community, YWW works to help young women succeed academically and professionally. 100% of our mentees have moved on to higher education, going to schools such as UIUC and Yale.

Through the group mentoring program, the mentors and mentees meet twice a month from September to June for workshops and activities that encompass topics such as higher education, career growth, financial literacy, public speaking, voting, female health, self-defense and safety, and self-confidence. YWW has worked for 20 years to serve underserved young women of color and to foster a strong, long-lasting support network of mentors and mentees.
