Ashley Heredia

Ashley is an ESL Instructor for CMAA - a role in which she has served since March 2021. She teaches the beginning and intermediate adult ESL classes in Elgin. She values CMAA’s emphasis on cultivating community, building relationships, and empowering students through quality education delivered by a passionate team.

Ashley has multiple years of teaching experience. She began tutoring for a literacy center after graduating from Aurora University. It was through this volunteer experience that she felt a calling to serve in the adult ESL classroom. While obtaining her master’s from Wheaton College, she interned in a beginning ESL classroom for one year, co-presented at the Illinois TESOL Bilingual Education Annual Convention in February 2020, and was the 2021 recipient of the Lonna Dickerson Award in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. 

 

FUN FACT | Outside of work, Ashley loves taking care of her plants and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
