Bria began working at CMAA in 2018. As Lead ESL Instructor, Bria teaches English classes, develops curriculum, and plans professional development for teachers in CMAA’s Consortium of 9 Chicago community-based English programs. Bria got her start working with new immigrants as a case manager at a Tucson, AZ refugee resettlement agency.
Bria has many years of experience working as an educator in libraries, schools, adult education classrooms, and documentary arts programs. She holds a Master of Arts from the University of Arizona, where she focused on issues of adult and adolescent literacy. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Beloit College and a Certificate in Documentary Studies from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
FUN FACT | Bria spent her honeymoon exploring Tennessee and Mississippi by bicycle.
