Connie is CMAA's manager of community outreach. Originally from Taiwan, Connie immigrated to the United States in 1975 and resided in Chicago three years later with a master's degree in art history. Her love for art and people shows in the work she contributes to CMAA whether she is out recruiting new volunteers or training ones who have been a part of our team. For her, the agency is a big family with staff members who truly care about the community and each other.
In the beginning, Connie was CMAA's family literacy coordinator for five years. Eventually, she was promoted to volunteer manager. When asked what reasons she had for staying at CMAA, she answers that working at our agency enables her to give back to the Uptown community as well as provide cultural roots for her daughter, Jessica.
One of her goals in this position is to inspire diversity and the participation of Asian-Americans in the different programs we offer throughout the year. She believes that without volunteers, we would not be able to execute our programs and events that are vital to the success and well-being of our community.
