Dary is a refugee from Cambodia who arrived in Illinois and grew up working in her family's store on Argyle Street in Chicago's historic Uptown neighborhood. She is the Director of Elderly Care and Social Services at the Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA), a nonprofit organization that serves Chicago's diverse communities
Dary's deep connection to the historic "Asia on Argyle" district at the heart of CMAA's community has driven her passion for helping those in need. Her experience in the nonprofit sector includes serving as the Executive Director of the Cambodian Association of Illinois & Cambodian American Heritage Museum and Killing Fields Memorial, as well as a member of the State Comptroller's Asian Advisory Council.
Dary's dedication to improving the lives of others led her to pursue a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Chicago, which she completed before joining CMAA in November 2018. Her expertise in social work and experience in the nonprofit world have been invaluable to CMAA's mission of providing essential services to the community.
