For the first time ever, the neighborhood of Uptown welcomed runners from across the Chicagoland area for the 1st annual Dim Sum & Then Some: The Uptown 5k!
Over 400 runners conquered the race and were then treated to some delicious treats, including fortune cookies, bubble tea compliments of Kung Fu Tea and of course, tasty dim sum from Furama.
On behalf of everyone at CMAA, we sincerely appreciate all of the runners who participated in our first ever run. Your participation and support will go a long way in helping CMAA continue to offer important social services to the community and beyond!
A big thanks also goes out to all of our sponsors as well as Alderman Osterman & Cappleman.
We hope to see you next year!
Last fall, CMAA was one of five local Chicagoland non-profits selected to participate in Prosperity Now's "Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color Program." Funded by JP Morgan Chase, the program aims to support non-profits of color that serve communities of color. As part of the program, Executive Director Dennis Mondero and Youth Department Manager Margaret Smith have been completing a series of workshops, trainings, and activities led by both Prosperity Now and Georgetown University's Center for Public & Nonprofit Leadership. The program will culminate with a capstone project on social impact evaluation, which CMAA expects to complete by Winter 2017.
Special thanks to our partners at JP Morgan Chase, Georgetown University, and Prosperity Now!
