Mary coordinates CMAA's Adult Volunteer Literacy program, made possible by a grant awarded by the Illinois State Library, a division of the Office of Secretary of State. Her responsibilities include matching volunteer tutors with learners of English at all language levels, holding orientation sessions, managing tutor training, proctoring language assessments, and completing grant proposals.
Prior to joining CMAA, Mary managed customized study abroad programs at IES Abroad in Chicago and worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus and Visitor Relations Office. She is a member of the Brittingham Viking Organization and is conversational in Mandarin and German.
FUN FACT | Mary traveled solo from Urumqi, Xinjiang to Beijing on a 31-hour train with a ticket for standing room only.
