CMAA COVID-19 CASH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

 

For CMAA COVID-19 Cash Assistance Program: 

CMAA is offering direct financial assistance to low-income families who have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, with a focus on the North Suburbs and Greater Elgin Area. If you have been struggling financially with mortgage payments, utilities, purchasing groceries or meeting any other immediate needs as a result of this crisis, please refer to the program eligibility criteria below. 

 

Recipients must:

  • Have a pre-crisis income that is 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI)

  • Show that they have experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis (documentation can include an unemployment insurance claim, a notice from their employer about layoffs or furloughs, pay stubs, etc.)

If you are eligible to apply, please fill out the application below and email it to COVID19Resources@chinesemutualaid.org. Please note that filling out this application does not guarantee an award due to limited funding, however, we will be expanding the program as resources become more available. 

CMAA’s Cash Assistance Program is now closed for any new applications. If you didn’t hear from us by 12/11/2020 unfortunately your application didn’t get approved because we ran out of funding. Thank you!

For CMAA COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program: 

In partnership with the Department of Housing, CMAA is releasing $950,000 in rental assistance!

CMAA is offering rental assistance to low-income families who have been economically impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. Eligible applicants will receive approximately 12 months worth of missed rent and utilities as well as 3 months of future rent and utility payments. This program is on a first comes first serve basis.

 

To be eligible for the program, recipients must: 

  • Be renters living in the City of Chicago

  • 2020 income that is 80% of AMI but preference will be given to those under 50% AMI

  • Show that they have experienced a financial hardship due to the COVID-19 crisis (documentation can include an unemployment insurance claim, a notice from their employer about layoffs or furloughs, pay stubs, etc.)

 

Applicants will have to show documentation of their present and/or backlogged monthly rent and/or utility, residency, pre-crisis income, and landlord information.

 

If you are eligible to apply, please fill out an application form listed below. If you are a renter, please fill out a tenant application. If you are a landlord, please fill out the landlord application. You must have all your documentation (listed in the first page of the form) ready in order to fill out the application.

Please note that filling out this application does not guarantee an award due to limited funding. Please also note that the funds, if and when approved, will go directly to the respective landlord and/or utility company.
