
David Baker
Youth Department Manager

David is excited to serve as the Youth Department Manager for the Chinese Mutual Aid Association beginning in June of 2025. Working with the youth department team, David supports immigrant youth by developing and coaching high-caliber teams focused on social-emotional development, relationships, and leveraging personal strengths. Growing up as a missionary’s kid in Mongolia, David developed a deep appreciation for culture, community, and connection. While relatively young when he moved back to the U.S., David still considers Ulaanbaatar as “home.”
David has spent the last 10+ years working with youth in a variety of settings. Before his time at CMAA, David worked in public school and other nonprofit settings. In 2022, David was awarded the Rising Nonprofit Leader award from the Young Nonprofit Professionals of Greater Omaha. Following that, David was invited to sit on a Participatory Action Research committee for the National Mentoring Partnership, where he studied social capital gaps in U.S. mentoring programs. David has presented twice (‘23, '24) at MENTOR’s national conference in Washington, D.C., discussing the findings of his PAR research with national board members and evidence-based recruitment strategies for mentoring practitioners. In 2023, David was selected as a semi-finalist for Nebraska’s Adult Volunteer of the Year. Outside of his professional life, David has toured the country multiple times working as an educator for various performing arts organizations.

David loves plants and enjoys using his free time to volunteer with community gardens!
