Dr. Ali Khan

Chief Medical Officer for Medicare

Aetna/CVS Health

Dr. Ali Khan is a general internist and the Chief Medical Officer for Medicare at Aetna/CVS Health, where he oversees clinical strategy, policy, and member experience for over 11 million Medicare members nationwide.
 

Before joining Aetna, Dr. Khan served as Chief Medical Officer for Value-Based Care Strategy at Oak Street Health, leading initiatives in managed care, medical management, clinical design, workforce development, and public policy. He continues to practice internal medicine at Oak Street’s West Side clinics in Chicago.
 

Earlier in his career, Dr. Khan held leadership roles at CareMore Health and Iora Health. He serves on the faculty of both Yale School of Medicine and Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management, and contributes to national healthcare leadership as a board director with the American Board of Internal Medicine, its Foundation, and the Better Medicare Alliance.
 

Dr. Khan has received numerous accolades for his impact, including Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Emerging Leaders (2021), Crain’s Chicago Business 40 Under 40 (2022), and the American College of Physicians’ Walter J. McDonald Award for the nation’s top early career internist (2024). He is also a fellow of the California Health Care Foundation and Leadership Greater Chicago.
 

Dr. Khan completed his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He holds joint M.D. and M.P.P. degrees from VCU’s Medical College of Virginia and Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Harvard Public Service Fellow.
