EMMA MACDONALD
Development Manager
Emma, a Minnesota native and a proud graduate of Grinnell College, brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role in the Development team at CMAA (Chinese Mutual Aid Association). With over a decade of experience working in various non-profit environments, Emma is deeply committed to uplifting and supporting CMAA's immigrant-origin and refugee clients.
Emma's journey with CMAA began as the Youth Department Manager, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership. She successfully tripled the department's annual budget, enabling the expansion of programming and services that directly benefited immigrant-origin youth. Under Emma's guidance, the Youth Department flourished, serving over 200 students and delivering more than 1000 hours of engaging programming during the 2022-2023 academic year.
In her current role as Development Manager, Emma plays a vital role in supporting CMAA's fundraising efforts. Her primary focus is to scale CMAA's programs to effectively and empathetically meet the diverse needs of their clients. Emma's dedication lies in fundraising and advocating for programming that aligns with the lived experiences of CMAA's immigrant and refugee clients. By doing so, she aims to foster a sense of belonging, empowerment, and resilience within the community.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Emma has a beloved pet named Louise. Louise is a retired racing greyhound who found a loving home with Emma after her racing career. Previously known as "Oakland Fraud," Louise now spends her days happily napping, embracing a more relaxed and peaceful lifestyle. While greyhounds are known for their incredible speed, Louise prefers the joys of relaxation.
Emma's extensive experience, coupled with her unwavering dedication to serving immigrant-origin and refugee communities, makes her a valuable asset to CMAA's Development team. Her passion and commitment create a positive impact, ensuring that CMAA's programs and services continue to uplift and empower those they serve.
