KARINA MARQUEZ
Youth Program Coordinator
Karina is a Youth Program Coordinator for CMAA. In her role, she develops curriculum and enrichment activities for CMAA’s Diverse Young Leaders after-school and summer programs alongside the rest of the youth department. She also coordinates programming for the Young Women Warriors, CMAA’s adolescent mentoring program. As a first-generation American and daughter of Filipino immigrants, Karina personally understands the importance of having strong academic support inside and outside the classroom. Working with a diverse population of young people and positively influencing them by providing that strong support system with well-rounded programming is an important commitment that Karina strives to continue working toward.
Karina graduated from the University of Missouri with degrees in Communication, English, and Psychology. She experience working with non-profit organizations as well as in education. She worked at several different Boys and Girls Clubs as a Youth Development Professional, and as an assistant teacher in early childhood education at Children’s Learning Place. She loves being able to create a positive learning environment for, and with, the children she works with. As a result of working with a range of ages, from early childhood to high school, she is knowledgeable about all the different aspects of education and developing the proper curriculum.
FUN FACT | Karina’s favorite movie as a child was The Sound of Music and she knows the words to every song on the soundtrack.
