A happy "Friendsgiving" night with the Golden Age Club

CMAA's "Golden Age Club" offers a safe place where seniors can participate in enrichment activities and cultural celebrations to keep them engaged with each other and the community. November's activity was our first Thanksgiving potluck for nearly 50 friends and family with dozens of dishes as well as a "Spicy Dip Contest" with the winners going home with raffle prizes!

Held at the beautiful Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, special guests including Councilman Corey Dixon and Councilwoman Tish Powell joined the GAC clients,

their family members, and members of the church for a celebratory meal along with James, Udon, and Greg from CMAA Elgin's Adult Education staff.

When going around the room and asking what people were thankful for, Mr. Em Ramoungkoun (former president of the Lao

Buddhist Temple) said he was

"...thankful for [CMAA] and [the] team for always advocating for [the seniors]. "

One of the church members came by before the event thanking us for bringing the GAC there, as he mentioned,

"...sometimes, people forget about us seniors, thank you for being here and celebrating with us."
